President Biden Withdraws Candidate
On Thursday September 9th, 2021 President Biden withdrew his pick for the Firearms Agency. Being a president, one of the things you can count on opposition for anything you do because you are always going to offend someone. Just this past week, 9/5-9/11/2021, he's pushing a mandate for all federal employees to get the COVID-19 vaccine. This past week has also been filled with governmental employees (specifically republicans) going against the mandate calling it an "overstepping of his power". There is another group that is going to against the president and that is wonderful NRA, which is a group that we can discuss in a later blogpost. There was a particular person who said that "it is a shameful day for our country", in response to Biden withdrawing his nomination. The NRA was pushing him to get rid of the nominee and I can see why the person quoted that but I dont entirely agree. Kris Brown who is the president of Brady said that its disappointing that its 50 member who would deny the presidents choice.
On the other side of the issue the people who were against the nomination are obviously happy. The term that they have coined from this is a critical win. Ouimet, claimed that he would be the most polarizing person that could have been in power. He does raise good points which it needs to be someone who can work with gun owners. This is fair, if you put someone in charge you want to be able for them to communicate with them so the legislation isn't at odds with the people they are representing. I also agree that it should be someone who is able to work closely with them major players in the gun community such as law enforcement and firearms. If the person is trying to control them instead of trying to help regulate them it is only going to cause them more stress and honestly wanting to rebel more.
What do you guys think, are you disappointed with the president too or are you on the other side of the issue?
