Everything's ________ in Texas??!!?!?

Image
Personally the southern states of the United States seem to be the most politically volatile when it pertains to things dealing with personal freedoms. The article we are talking about today deals with Texas and how a judge blocked a law banned people on social media for a viewpoint.  Claim (paraphrased): Social media apps are very biased and particularly strict towards conservative users. Two very big tech groups came together and said that it's law that a state can force a social platform to keep things up even though it violates their guidelines. This is the part where I agree more with the social media companies than I do the state. Their are certain things that are in control of the states such as gun laws. The federal government says owning a firearm is legal, then it is up to the states to determine how lenient or strict they are going to make the laws. For example in California you are better off not owning one because  of all the hoops you have to go through and the t...

Why come for the VP?

This one is going to have a more of a personal touch to it, so lets begin..... Here are some of the claims against VICE PRESIDENT Kamala Harris: ***NYT- 10 months into her vice presidency and she has to really deliver to the administration.  ***Some lady who works for a think tank- she has been hiding this whole time and has been under the radar. ***CNN headline-  Headline Link After these outlets spoke, people in the white house moved to defend her. The press secretary stated that she is vital to the president and has addressed things such ass voting right to the causes of migration. The white house Chief of Staff said she is off the on one of the best starts of any vice president. He stated that she had mad an impact on vaccine equity and foreign policy.  Of course CNN said that the Chief of Staff is one of her biggest supporters so whatever he says is biased. They said after talking to nearly 36 people who worked close with her in the past and now, they all say t...

Gun Violence and Linguistics!!?

Image
Disclaimer: For the class that I make these blogpost, the articles have to be found in the "intersection" of media and politics. This is a rarity, but this week I the article has nothing to do with media but does involve some politicking. Back to our regularly scheduled programming...... A police chief who works in Virginia showed just how against gun control he is, five women got shot and three of them died. He's not just an advocate for change within his state, he is also an advocating for change within the country. Personally, I believe that people should be able to have guns but there should be stricter regulations on how you are able to get them. Taking away a persons right to protect themselves is wrong in my eyes, but tighter regulation is needed.  The next interesting thing stated in this article is use of the word "mass shooting". The chief uses it as  a buzz word so more people ears will perk up when they hear it. I like this idea, I think that becaus...

Election Day!!?!?!?

Image
Ever since Former President Trump lost the election back a year ago, there has been all this talk about elections being fraudulent. To this day that claim has been held up by large republican voices. To bring everything around the reason the January 6th riots happened was republicans were claiming fraud and the only way to change that is to threaten politicians. I*n the present day there are elections that are going happening in Atlanta and their are new restrictions happening in the state to see what is going to work. Minnesota's Secretary of State who is democratic compares this election cycle to a dress rehearsal. Which is fair because there are going to be many changes taking place and instead of them being a surprise they are going to be practiced and tweaked throughout the upcoming months.  From here I am going to break down the specifics.... ***New Jersey and Virginia are the two states that are being looked at the closest. The reason it is these two states because the...

When Senators start to care about Snapchat...Stay on Facebook Bro!!

Image
This is my second post of today and this one is going to be more informal than normal. This is one of those things where an politician makes a claim that social media is ruining our youth. It is giving me the same vibes of you telling your mom your hungry and she say's you wouldn't if you weren't on your phone all day. LOL.  Onto the meat and potatoes... The senators are claiming that these sites are taking advantage of young people by showing them things from eating disorders to sexually explicit content and abusive drugs. From this the one these senators want is legislation that hinges down the protection of children on these apps.  Claim #1: Big Tech preys on children and teens to make more money. Then they bring up our best friend Facebook and talk about how Instagram is harming teens. Saying the main focus on Instagram is to get the attention of young people, the same goes for places like TikTok and Snapchat. The Senator at the lead of this even went to question the...

Facebook gets Cold!!??

Image
My Intro/Apology: I know its been a while sense I last posted something and that is because I got a little lazy, but its fine because I got a double dose for you guys. The interesting this is that I log onto my computer and put in a random news website that popped in my head and Facebook is the top headline, published 8 minutes ago. Both Facebook and the January 6th riots are paying my bills when it comes to getting this done, they always have something going on.  Now Back to the Information: So I know you guys remember about a year ago when the vaccine began to come out and their was a group of people wanted them, hated them, and didn't care. Along with the hateful people came a bunch of their own misconceptions about the newly acquired vaccine. To combat this Facebook literally pushed this kind of information further down peoples feed. One group stated that the reason they didn't do what was mentioned above was they are all about "HUMAN ENGAGEMENT + EYEBALLS = Ad REVENUE...

QAnon got a Perm!!!

Image
For the longest QAnon was something I would always hear about but never understood, and it was something that was very prevalent during President Trumps tenure in office. To preface my definition, I want to say who it is, is a conspiracy within itself because no one truly knows. The definition that holds the most weight in my eyes is the one that, it is a person who was in the white house (between 2016-2020) who had "Q" level clearance and would go on 8chan and give out tidbits of information to followers that dealt with politics. Although it wouldn't be straight forward, it gave numbers and pieces of information every so often. Needless to say that it the most supporters between the years of 2016-2020. ***Here is an example so you aren't left to you imagination*** Now that I have given you a full overview, I want to tell you guys some of the supporters of them were also there during the capital riots of January 6th. Below is a man with "Q" on his shirt whi...
